- 1. Clean the Windshield
- Wash the top portion of the windshield thoroughly.
-
Use glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth to remove all dirt, wax, and grease.
-
The cleaner the surface, the better the adhesion.
- 2. Measure & Mark
-
Measure how deep you want the sun strip to go
-
Use masking tape to mark the desired line evenly across the windshield.
-
You can also place a small piece of tape in the center to help you align the strip symmetrically.
- 3. Position the Sun strip
-
Peel off the backing paper from the vinyl (have a helper if possible).
-
Lay the vinyl slowly onto the glass, aligning the center with your middle tape mark.
-
Gently press it into place with your hands.
- 4. Squeegee Out Air and Water
-
Starting from the center, use a squeegee to push the air bubbles toward the edges.
-
Work slowly to avoid wrinkles.
-
Use the microfiber-wrapped edge to avoid scratching the vinyl.
- 5. Trim the Edges
-
Once the vinyl is flat and bubble-free, carefully trim the excess along the windshield edge using a sharp razor blade
6. Final Touches
-
Use a heat gun or hair dryer to gently warm the vinyl and help it conform to any curves.
-
Let it sit for 24 hours before washing the car or exposing it to heavy rain.
